General information

Called the world's 'coolest little capital' Wellington is known for its vibrant arts scene, world class cafe and restaurant culture, and active outdoor lifestyle. It has more cafes, bars and restaurants per capita than New York City!

Did you know ... Wellington enjoys around 2,000 hours of sunshine a year - about 30% more than London and just a little less than Melbourne.

Being close to the sea keeps temperatures mild and in September (Spring) it will still be a little chilly:
Average daily max: degrees 15.5C / 60F min: 9C / 48F

We recommend wearing layers of clothing, and always carry a warm coat because it is true that at certain times of the year the wind can get a little wild!

Wellington is less than one hour's flight from New Zealand's other main cities, and Wellington International Airport is just 20 minutes' drive from the conference venue. Three airlines - Air New Zealand, Qantas and Jetstar - fly directly from Australia and there are frequent domestic flights from all around New Zealand.

Find your way around central Wellington with ease using this downloadable Wellington Downtown Map [PDF, 1.72mb, 1 page]. The map includes central city accommodation, visitor attractions, conference venue locations and public toilets.
