Mike O'Brien

Mike  has over 20 years of experience as a business leader. He has held executive positions in manufacturing, consumer electronics, technology and supply chain companies in New Zealand and overseas, along with various governance positions. Most recently, Mike spent five years as head of CHEP New Zealand, a subsidiary of Brambles, a global supplier of supply chain solutions. He holds an MBA from Auckland University. Mike is actively committed to improving the health and safety of New Zealand workplaces. He is on the steering group of the Business Leaders’ Health and Safety Forum and has twice been a finalist in the leadership category of the New Zealand Workplace Health and Safety Awards. Mike is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors, He is President of youth development charity CISV NZ.

Philip leads the day to day operation of HASANZ and the implementation of its business strategy. He has a broad background in both the public and private sectors with extensive leadership experience across a range of membership, government, industry training and commercial organisations. When Chief Executive of InfraTrain New Zealand he chaired the Built Environment Training Alliance (BETA) and was closely involved in building capability in the high-risk infrastructure construction industry for the Christchurch rebuild. This spurred his active interest in promoting workplace health and safety.

Ruth Hefford will be running the day to day operations in the HASANZ office whilst Mia is on maternity leave. She has a diverse background from working in a variety of roles and is also passionate about health and safety in the workplace. Ruth will be your first point of contact for the HASANZ Register and HASANZ Scholarship Programme.

Kathryn Maloney

Kathryn focuses on HASANZ policy development and manages the HASANZ Scholarship Programme. She comes to the health and safety sector from a background working in the seniors and ageing policy space for both government and not-for-profit organisations. Recently, Kathryn chaired ACC’s Older Person’s Advisory Group and managed an injury prevention programme funded by ACC.

Lisa manages special projects for HASANZ, with oversight of the HASANZ Register. She has worked predominately in the education sector and has extensive experience in project and product delivery across the globe in the UK, UAE and New Zealand for both the private and public sectors, including not-for-profit organisations. Lisa has a passion for wellness and delivering projects that improve people’s lives.
